The Poet's Inn is a merry place to be for lunch during the holidays. Culinary Arts students cooked and served two Thanksgiving buffets and are now ready for the December holidays. They have strung festive lights and greenery across the restaurant and donned red bow ties to serve guests during their regular breakfast and lunch seatings, four days a week. Reservations for the Holiday Buffets on Dec. 19th and 20th are sold out.
“We usually have about 80-100 guests, not including take-out which is available to faculty and staff,” says Sue Josephs, Culinary Arts Instructor. The buffets feature dishes of beef, pork, fish and chicken, a variety of steaming vegetables, pastas, potatoes, and inspired pies and cheesecakes for dessert. “Our guests love the food, the price, the students and the festivities,” said Cathy Baines, Culinary Arts instructor.
Students are also enthusiastic. “I love to be in the Poet’s Inn during the holidays," said Junior Alicia Catalano. "I love to decorate and listen to Christmas music and serve the guests all of the different foods."
Junior Jassidel Baez said he enjoys cooking in the busy kitchen and interacting with guests. “The cheeriness of the restaurant is one of the things I enjoy the most about the Poet’s Inn during the holidays,” he said.
