Our highly-anticipated spring musical Working goes up March 10 & 11 at 7 p.m. and March 12 at 2 p.m. “The cast is practicing every day, working very hard on their songs, dances and monologues,” said Musical Director Linda Urban.
Thirty student actors will perform in the show based on the best-selling book by Studds Terkel. It features monologues and songs from American workers from all walks of life -- truck drivers, teachers, fire fighters, hedge fund managers, parking lot attendants -- painting a vivid and moving picture of the hopes, dreams and concerns of the average working American.
The show will feature a live, pit orchestra with music composed by James Taylor, Stephen Schwartz and Lin Manuel Miranda, a writer of the musical Hamilton. Whittier teachers performing in the orchestra are: Greg Vlahos, guitar; Michael Ruggelo, drums; Max Beauregard, bass, and Ms. Urban, conductor.
Advance tickets will go on sale for $8 at the school store beginning Feb. 28. Tickets at the door will be $10.
