The Whittier Tech Math Department is pleased to share the Term 2 Students of the Term! Each student received a certificate “for exemplary effort and achievement in the area of Mathematics for Term 2 of the 2024-2025 school year.” The certificates were signed by the student’s Math teacher and the Math Cluster Chair, Ms. McDonald. The goal of the Math Department is to showcase students’ outstanding math growth and achievement on a quarterly basis by selecting one student from every grade, once a term, to be recognized in their mathematics classroom.

Grade 9 student Azumi Rivas Moya, from Haverhill, was nominated by Math instructor Mrs. Munroe.

“Azumi is in the Honors Algebra 1/Geometry class. Azumi stands out for her desire to learn for understanding. She is always engaged and working both inside and outside the classroom. She asks questions, helps her classmates, fixes mistakes, does extra IXLs, watches YouTube videos, takes notes, and attends extra help regularly. Azumi doesn't let a set back such as an incorrect answer on a test get her down, instead she views it as an opportunity to learn from her mistakes and get better. Each day, her confidence as a mathematician is growing; I am most proud of Azumi because she is learning how to learn.”

Grade 10 student Sean Eder, from Haverhill, was nominated by Math instructor Ms. Simmons.

“I am happy to nominate Sean Eder as math student of the term. Sean is a humble student who ended both Q1 and Q2 with an A+.
