It's "What's next?" that counts
High school graduation isn't the end - it's just the beginning.
That's what almost every graduation speaker at every high school in the country says in their speech, in one way or another, because it's true.
While it is a great accomplishment, and probably the greatest accomplishment of a student's early life, it is just the beginning of "what's next".
For our students, "what's next" takes many forms - college, work, trade schools, military, and more.
We are proud to say that the "Whittier Way" provides our students with more choices than a traditional high school, and prepares them to succeed at all of them.
As you can see in the attached graphic, on average 65% of our students go on to 2 or 4 year colleges, both public and private, while about 30% go straight to work. Some leave Whittier to work for a year, saving up money to go on to college the following year. Our College to Work ratio is affected by the greater economic trends in the area - some years, the desire or need to go straight to work changes the choices of our students.
In addition, our students go to some of the best colleges in the country - we've included a list of post-secondary schools our students chose as "what's next" for the past 3 years.
