Whittier receives Educational Award

Whittier Tech was honored as a Business of the Year in the category of Education by the Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce in February at its Annual Business Awards Breakfast. Special recognition was given to our Advanced Manufacturing Program.

The presentation included this description in the Awards Program:

Manufacturing plays a significant role in the region’s economy, particularly in Haverhill where it represents our largest source of private sector jobs.

Whittier’s Advanced Manufacturing Technology Program combines the use of technical knowledge and hands-on experience in manufacturing of products and the proper use of precision machinery. Emphasis is placed on technical machine shop technology, knowledge, and use of manual lathes, manual mills, vertical and horizontal saws, surface grinders and finishing techniques. Through this program, students learn the necessary skills to succeed in a field that is eager for workers.

Whittier’s leadership and faculty have invested heavily in their manufacturing program and it’s now recognized throughout the region as a critical piece in workforce development for manufacturing companies.

Superintendent Lynch and her faculty are important partners in our quest to make Haverhill known throughout New England for its manufacturing base, and it’s our honor to recognize their Manufacturing Programs for its key role.

The breakfast was hosted at Atkinson Resort and Country Club in Atkinson, NH.
