Whittier Tech Projects Recognize Haverhill First Responders on 20th Anniversary of Sept. 11 Attacks

Superintendent Maureen Lynch is proud to share that Whittier Technical High School students and staff have undertaken several projects to honor Haverhill’s first responders to mark the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Staff and students have collaborated on the following projects:

  • The Masonry Department have added customized donor bricks to the existing memorial at the Haverhill Firefighting Museum.

  • The Advanced Manufacturing Department has made custom key tags for all members of the Haverhill Fire Department and Haverhill Police Department.

  • SkillsUSA student officers will attend the Sept. 11 Memorial Service at the Haverhill Firefighting Museum alongside Whittier Tech Administration.

  • The Culinary Arts Department will make pastries for guests attending the Sept. 11 Memorial Service at the Haverhill Firefighting Museum.

  • The Carpentry Department will gift both Haverhill Police Chief Robert Pistone and Haverhill Fire Chief Robert O’Brien with high-quality, handmade wooden American flags.

“I’m exceptionally proud of our Whittier Tech family for their efforts,” Superintendent Lynch said. “Our students were not alive when the Sept. 11 attacks occurred. These hands-on learning projects connect them to both our first responders and to a critical moment in our nation’s history.”
