Two Whittier Tech Teachers Honored at Haverhill YMCA's Educator of the Year
Last night, the Haverhill YMCA held its annual celebration of local educators who exemplify the core values of the YMCA program. This year, there were two Whittier Tech teachers nominated for this honor: Ms. Teixeira and Mr. Charbonneau.
Ms. Teixeira is a Mathematics Instructor and has been at Whittier since 2010. Ms. Teixeira is a vital member of the Math Department, helping bring higher levels of Math courses into the Whittier curriculum. Outside of the classroom, Ms. Teixeira remains involved with various clubs and sports, particularly track. The nomination letter that the YMCA received on behalf of Ms. Teixeira highlighted her determination in bringing as many opportunities to the students of Whittier as possible. A colleague wrote, “Ms. Teixeira is a highly qualified educator who emulates determination to nurture every student’s potential, dedication to her students and her school’s success, and an enthusiastic commitment to her district’s community.”
Mr. Charbonneau is a Science Instructor and is in his 10th year at Whittier. Outside of the classroom, Mr. Charbonneau is the Boys’ Basketball Head Coach and is a co-advisor to the GSA Club. The nomination letter that the YMCA received on behalf of Mr. Charbonneau focused on his continued devotion to Whittier students. A colleague wrote, “In the classroom, he sets high expectations for all of his students while also forming strong relationships. These strong relationships help students work harder in his Anatomy classes, and students often form strong interest in the subject matter.”
