Three WT Girls Lacrosse Players Commit to Play in College

Last Friday, three Whittier Tech seniors on the Girls’ Lacrosse team signed their commitment to further their lacrosse career on the collegiate circuit. Hannah and Sammy Azzari, both from Bradford, signed on to play for the Fitchburg State Falcons Lacrosse team while Luchia Quintiliani, from Haverhill, signed on to play for the Keene State College Owls Lacrosse team.

Hannah and Sammy both played attack and center, with 53 goals and 51 goals, respectively. Luchia was a defensive midfielder who scored 2 goals this season.

Head Coach Allie Simmons had nothing but great things to say about these three young women, “Sammy and Hannah were captains for our team this season and they proved to be incredibly effective at offense. They are both powerhouses when it comes to ground balls, winning the draw, or shooting on net. Luchia is a versatile player, she ultimately played defensive midfield but it wasn't unusual for her to play defense, attack midfield, or even center.  Luchia's endurance and great defensive ability to slow down the opposing team when they were transitioning the ball up the field was key in helping our team's midfielders get back and set for defense. All three seniors are excellent on and off the field and Coach Yameen and I believe they will find great success in whatever they set their minds to. We wish them the best of luck in their collegiate careers!” 

Now that the season has come to a close and graduation is approaching, it’s a bittersweet moment for the three. Luchia Quintiliani said, "It's sad that it is all coming to an end."

"I have really enjoyed making memories with my teammates but I am looking forward to what college lacrosse will bring,” shared Hannah Azzari.

Sammy Azzari agreed, "It certainly will be interesting when we meet on the field as opponents next year."
