Whittier Tech Math Department Announces Students of the Term for Term 4

The Whittier Tech Math Department is pleased to share the Term 4 Students of the Term! Each student received a certificate “for exemplary effort and achievement in the area of Mathematics for Term 4 of the 2022-2023 school year.” The certificates were signed by the student’s Math teacher and the Math Cluster Chair, Ms. McDonald. The goal of the Math Department is to showcase students’ outstanding math growth and achievement on a quarterly basis by selecting one student from every grade, once a term, to be recognized in their mathematics classroom.

Freshman Haley Santos, from Bradford, was nominated by Math teacher Ms. Letendre.

  • “Haley came into her freshman year thinking she "didn't like" math. She told me she had struggled with math classes in the past. I have seen nothing but excellence from Haley every single day. She comes to class with a positive attitude, ready to do the work and learn the concepts. She has earned an A or higher every single quarter of this year, and has stood out to me as a role model for all students.”

Sophomore Jormanny Cintron, from Haverhill, was nominated by Math Teacher Ms. Simmons.

  • “Jormanny Cintron is a respectful and hard-working student as well as a strong mathematician. Jormanny completes all of his work on time and always to the best of his ability. He is not afraid to attempt a challenging problem and he shows perseverance even when he finds the work to be hard. Jormanny is always willing to help his peers and he serves as a positive role model by being an avid participant in our class as well as always following the rules and expectations. It has been a pleasure to have Jormanny as a student this school year!”

Junior Gabe Houde, from Haverhill, was nominated by Math Teacher Mrs. Kotowski.

  • “Gabe has shown extraordinary growth in his math abilities. He was in my CP2 Algebra 2 class last year and moved up to CP1 Algebra 3 this year. Gabe is a self-starter, always completes his assignments, and has mastered the content of Algebra 3. He advocates for himself and asks for help when needed. I am confident he will be successful next year as well in Honors Pre-Calculus.”
