Student of the Month Recap 2022-2023

As we come to the end of the 2022-2023 school year, let’s recap the students were selected as Student of the Month throughout the year!


September - Damitri Acevedo-Torres. Damitri is the son of Julian Torres and Monique Lavoie of Haverhill. He is in the 12th grade and is part of the Masonry program. Damitiri exemplifies the best in a WT Wildcat. He has engaged in many opportunities, finding the ones that bring out his strengths and running with them. In the athletic arena, he participates in several sports and currently serves as a captain on the football team. He is a member of NTHS and participates in a co-op with the WT facilities department. He is as strong academically as he is vocationally. Above all, he exemplifies the good citizenship and leadership that we expect from a WT student.


October - Kai Aeron Elliot. Kai Aeron is the student of Beth Elliot of Haverhill.  Kai Aeron is in the 12th grade and is part of the Culinary program.  Kai Aeron is a capable and hardworking student, as well as a kind and caring person who looks out for others.  Their compassion and willingness to lend a hand was exemplified at the recent Coffee House as they supported a fellow student during the performances.  Kai Aeron is involved in GSA and also shines on stage as a member of the drama club. 


November - Gabriel Lacey. Gabe is the student of Robin Lacey of Haverhill, MA. Gabe is a conscientious and motivated student.  He is enthusiastic about learning and is often found helping his classmates who might be struggling with a difficult concept or project.  Recently, Gabe was instrumental in helping the success of the SkillsUSA can drive, going above and beyond to bring in an unprecedented amount of canned good donations.  Gabe has been an exceptional model of how to give back to others, and we are lucky to have him at Whittier Tech! 


December - Alannah Noone. Alannah is the daughter of Jamie and James Noone of Salisbury, MA. Alannah is a leader in the culinary and hospitality programs.  Her incredible work ethic and great attitude make her a tremendous asset to her teachers and her peers.  She always takes great pride in her work and is quick to offer assistance and encouragement to her classmates.  Alannah is involved in SkillsUSA and won a gold medal at districts last year.  She routinely stays after school to learn more about Food & Beverage Service to prepare for this year's competition.  Her positive attitude, kindness to her peers, and desire to learn make her a shining example of a model Whittier Wildcat.  


January - Asha Morfill. Asha is the student of Carol and John Tuttle of Haverhill, MA. Asha is a senior in DVC and has shown tremendous growth throughout her career at Whittier Tech.   She has been involved in several extracurricular activities at Whittier including the drama club and track and field.  Asha understands the importance of giving back to others and has volunteered her time at local food pantries and meal services.  In addition to being a full-time student and participating in activities, Asha also holds part-time employment and works to balance all of her responsibilities. Asha is currently working on co-op at Applied Graphics in Amesbury.


February - Tyler Labreck. Tyler is the son of Christine Hartford of Haverhill, MA. Tyler is a sophomore in Carpentry and has shown tremendous growth since arriving at Whittier last year as a freshman.  He is developing into a more mature and dedicated student and we want to recognize his progress and potential by honoring him as Student of the Month.  His overall performance at Whittier has improved greatly since his freshman year.   He is a more self-aware student, has increased his ability to advocate for himself, and has developed tools and strategies to make continuous improvements.  We are very proud of his accomplishments this year and know that he is capable of achieving anything he puts his mind to! 


March - Michael Alvarez. Michael is the son of Edzaida and Michael Alvarez of Haverhill, MA. Michael is a grade 9 student who has completed the exploratory program and recently started in our Marine Technology shop.  In his freshman year, Michael has become involved with different athletic and extracurricular activities.  He is a member of the newly formed volleyball team and participates in the Robotics Club.  Outside of Whittier, he holds a part-time job, enjoys playing video games, and selflessly volunteers his time assisting an elderly neighbor with snow removal, clean up, and other tasks.  Michael has been a wonderful addition to the Whittier Wildcat family this year and we can't wait to see what he'll accomplish throughout his time here. 


April - Rhuan De Oliveira. Rhuan is the son of Daniela de Freitas and Ricardo Rosa of Amesbury, MA. Rhuan is a grade 9 student who selected Health Assisting after completing the Exploratory Program, with aspirations of becoming a doctor.  Rhuan moved to the US from Brazil several years ago and is described as having a very positive attitude and a strong desire to improve everything he does.  He holds a part-time job outside of school and has been participating in SkillsUSA this year to help improve his leadership skills.  We are grateful to have him at Whittier Tech for another three years! 


May - Issa DiBartelomeo. Issa is the student of Mary DiBartelomeo of Haverhill, MA. Issa just recently graduated from Whittier from our DVC program.  They are a talented artist, an avid reader, and a tremendous leader.  Issa was a member of GSA while at Whittier and their contributions were always thoughtful, helpful, kind, and full of wisdom.  They went out of their way to make others feel valued, important, and supported.  We will miss Issa next year and wish them all the luck as they move on to the next chapter of their life! 


June - Natalie Alandzak Ramirez. Natalie is the daughter of Omar Ramirez and Ivana Alandzak of Haverhill, MA. Natalie is a grade 10 student who is completing her 2nd year in the Dental Assisting Program.  In the classroom, Natalie has been described as enthusiastic, consistent, and always up for a new challenge.  She goes above and beyond to encourage and support her classmates and helps create a positive learning environment.  In addition, she is a 2 sport athlete (basketball and track) and participated in SkillsUSA this year.  Natalie takes great pride in being a role model for her younger siblings, and we are so glad to have her as a part of our Whittier student body!
