Whittier Tech Math Department Announces Students of the Term for Term 4

The Whittier Tech Math Department is pleased to share the Term 4 Students of the Term! Each student received a certificate “for exemplary effort and achievement in the area of Mathematics for Term 3 of the 2023-2024 school year.” The certificates were signed by the student’s Math teacher and the Math Cluster Chair, Ms. McDonald. The goal of the Math Department is to showcase students’ outstanding math growth and achievement on a quarterly basis by selecting one student from every grade, once a term, to be recognized in their mathematics classroom.

Freshman Skylar Cyr was nominated by Math Teacher Mr. McDormand.

  • “Skylar is easily my hardest working student this year. Each day, she approaches her math education intent on both understanding and practicing to reinforce her understanding. She never does what is required; she always does more. To no one's surprise, she has demonstrated high levels of understanding on every assessment this year. If all of my students were Skylar Cyr, I would have the easiest job in the world. Congratulations, Skylar!”

Sophomore Lizeth Quizhpi was nominated by Math Teacher Ms. McDonald.

  • “Lizeth is my brightest student this year. She has consistently demonstrated a remarkable aptitude for math through the term. Her dedication, perseverance, and strong problem- solving skills have set her apart from her peers. She is able to grasp complex concepts easily and continually works hard to complete her work with precision. Lizeth takes her time and always asks questions for understanding. She is always quietly engaged during class. I cannot wait to see what she accomplishes during her time at Whittier Tech!”

Junior Camron Negron was nominated by Math Teacher Mrs. Kotowski.

  • “I nominated Camron Negron for the Math Student of the Term award. Cam has demonstrated exceptional dedication and excellence in mathematics throughout Term 4. He has achieved a perfect score this term, reflecting his thorough understanding and mastery of the subject matter. Cam actively advocates for himself by asking questions to clarify and deepen his understanding of the material. This proactive approach not only benefits his own learning but also contributes positively to the classroom environment. His impressive performance and dedication have earned him a place in Honors Pre-Calculus next year. Given his current achievements, there is no doubt that he will excel in this more challenging course.”

Senior Isabella Puzniak was nominated by Math Teacher Mrs. Penny.
