WT Homecoming 2022 Wrap-Up

For the first time in over 20 years, Whittier Tech hosted a Homecoming Dance on Friday, October 14th. 723 students filled the gymnasium and main lobby. Student Government, under the guidance of advisors Elizabeth Devenney and Monica Marino, hosted the event. The Gym was decked out for the dance floor and the main lobby was the designated area for food and refreshments.

Chaperones for the event included over 40 WT teachers and security. The WT Maintenance Department was instrumental in setting up and breaking down the event. There were a total of 3 Haverhill School Resource Officers, including our very own Officer Ryan Connolly. Officer Milady Figueroa and Officer Christian Guzman rounded out the team (Officer Guzman is an Assistant Coach for the WT Football Team). Metal Fabrication, supervised by Mr. Palmer and Mr. Gerber, created a frame for the balloon archway leading into the gym and worked together with the maintenance crew to attach it to the door.

The Whittier Tech Boosters sold food and beverages making a grand total of $2,275. WT Booster President Janice McNulty, Heather Rousseau, Sheila Freitas, Shannon Alvarez, and Roxanne Nealon all volunteered their time to provide these refreshments options for the dance attendees.

Student Government advisors Elizabeth Devenney and Monica Marino, who both also teach English at Whittier, had nothing but praise for the event. “We are proud of all of our students for their excellent behavior and their hard work to help make this happen. We would like to especially recognize the Student Government members and Officers for all the behind-the-scenes work for the last year in planning this event. We believe that this dance will open the door for future events for our students.”

On behalf of everyone at Whittier Tech, thank you for your part in making this event a success.
