Two Whittier Tech Students Submit Artwork for the 2023 Congressional Art Competition

Two DVC students from Whittier Tech, Cheyenne Siguenza and Nikki Bowman-Nadeau, both Sophomores from Haverhill, submitted artwork for the 2023 Congressional Art Competition. DVC instructor Cate Cashman was impressed by the beautiful pieces of art they submitted, "The Congressional Art Competition is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the creativity and skill of our students and inspire future generations of artists."

Congresswoman Lori Trahan hosted the reception on Tuesday, May 2nd at the Chelmsford Center for the Arts to celebrate the talented young artists. The event was attended by local families, art teachers, and members of the community.

During the reception, all art pieces submitted to the competition were on display for viewing. Congresswoman Trahan announced the 1st place winner of the competition, based on the advice of three art experts from Massachusetts’ 3rd District who helped judge the contest. The judges were Jerry Wedge of the Umbrella Arts Center, Jesse Connor of Mount Wachusett Community College, and Sara Bogosian of the Whistler House Museum of Art.
