Staff Development Adventures from February 2nd

Check out these amazing snapshots from last Friday's staff development session focused on Embedded Academics!

The focus for our staff development was Embedded Academics.  This is the integration of technical areas with their academic counterparts. 

During this half-day session all academic teachers, guidance counselors, specialists, teacher aides, and support personnel were placed in a vocational/technical area based on their particular area of interest.

Here's a glimpse into the action:

🔧 Advanced Manufacturing: Crafting personalized pens through CNC operation, manual lathe & mill operation, finishing processes, and more!

🚗 Automotive Technology: Exploring tire technology and learning to change & balance tires with state-of-the-art equipment.

💼 Business & Marketing: Designing & creating tote bags for the School Store, diving into product creation and pricing strategies.

📐 CAD Drafting: Mastering grid drawing to enhance drawing skills and perspective.

🔨 Carpentry: Crafting the classic "Cracker Barrel Triangle Peg Game" and observing woodworking techniques.

💅 Cosmetology: From braiding demos to nail art, participants delved into the world of cosmetology.

🍳 Culinary Arts/Hospitality: Preparing and cooking entrées while exploring hospitality skills.

📸 Design and Visual Communications: Experimenting with lighting positions and Photoshop tools for creative projects.

⚡ Electrical Technology: Learning about ground fault circuit protection and wiring techniques.

🤖 Electronics and Robotics: Building small projects and exploring electronic components and soldering techniques.

🛠️ Engineering Technology: Tackling engineering challenges and learning the Engineering Design Process.

🌊 Marine Technology: Exploring water pumps and buoyancy labs.

🧱 Masonry Department: Building brick walls and learning about mortar application.

🔥 Metal Fabrication: Welding safety, MIG welding, and CNC plasma cutting.

🚽 Plumbing & Heating: Soldering copper piping and toilet maintenance basics.

Our staff had an enriching experience diving into these vocational/technical areas, gaining insights and skills to enrich their academic teaching. Here's to continued growth and innovation!
