Metal Fabrication Students Celebrate Valentine’s Day

In preparation for guest speaker Sarah Groleau, a metal artist and welder, Metal Fabrication students decided to have a metal rose-making day to show off their artistic abilities while making this a fun Valentine’s Day activity.

Metal Fabrication Instructors Chris Gerber and Stephen Palmer posed the following question to their students, “If your personality was a metal rose, what would it look like?” Students were given complete artistic freedom to design a flower that represented the diverse group of students within the Metal Fab shop.

The students utilized their creativity and imagination to design various flowers.

  • "This was a fun way for everyone to express themselves through the creativity of designing and fabricating a flower they feel represents themselves." - Junior Madison Gosse from Georgetown

  • "All of the students had a vision and through the guidance and wisdom of Mr.Gerber and Mr. Palmer, the students' visions came to reality." - Senior Josh LeBlanc from Haverhill

  • "Making our own unique flowers with the freedom of mind and creativity within each and every student." - Junior LeeAnn Alvaraz from Haverhill

  • "I decided to make a honey bee fish that's smelling a flower that's being consumed by a larger fish to represent me enjoying my time here at Whittier Tech that's about to be consumed by the reality of the real world as graduation approaches." - Anonymous Senior

Mr. Gerber was very impressed with what the students created, "I enjoyed watching everyone make their roses. I didn't expect to see so many varieties of flowers, but I was very impressed to see the amount of creativity and dedication from every student."
