Whittier Tech Student Commits to Playing Football at Merrimack College

Whittier Tech is proud to announce that senior student, Nicolas Almanzar, has officially committed to playing football at Merrimack College. Almanzar, a standout running back and wide receiver, has signed with the Merrimack College Warriors football team.

Almanzar's exceptional performance on the field, combined with his dedication to academics, has earned him this incredible opportunity. As a student-athlete, Almanzar has maintained an impressive class rank and GPA, showcasing his commitment to both his education and his passion for football.

Throughout his high school career, Almanzar has achieved remarkable success on the football field. He has accumulated an impressive 2,100 rushing yards, scored 28 touchdowns, and completed 18 2-point conversions. His outstanding performance has earned him recognition as a two-time Boston Herald and Boston Globe D2 Football All-Star, an Eagle-Tribune All-Star, and a two-time CAC All-Star. One of his proudest achievements is being one of the team captains of the 2023 team that won the first conference championship in over a decade.

Almanzar's commitment to excellence extends beyond the football field. He is currently studying Electrical at Whittier Tech and is an Early College student, having nearly already earned 12 college credits. His dedication to his studies and his athletic achievements make him an exceptional role model for his peers.

Almanzar is deeply grateful to his family and friends for their unwavering support throughout his journey. He offers heartfelt thanks to the dedicated administration and staff at Whittier Tech for their invaluable guidance and encouragement. Furthermore, he expresses deep appreciation to his coaches and teammates for their unwavering commitment in propelling him towards realizing his fullest potential, both on and off the field. Additionally, Almanzar would like to give special recognition to his mother Rosa Micheli, Kauren Urena, and God.

Almanzar's motto, "Why not you?", reflects his belief that anything is possible with determination and hard work. He leaves a lasting legacy at Whittier Tech and serves as an inspiration to his fellow students. Whittier Tech is proud to have played a part in Almanzar's journey and wishes him continued success as he embarks on this new chapter at Merrimack College.
